AE MONTHLY BOOK CLUB: APRIL 2016
Welcome back! Or just welcome if this is your first time joining our newly established book club. Just as a refresher for the veterans, and a quick introduction for the newbies, each month we are choosing a book we’d love for everyone to read along with us. Weekly chapter goals will be set out below, and all month you can join the online discussion using the hashtag #AEBookClub as we hop on our high horses and provide our opinions on each book’s movie potential.
For the month of April, Publication Manager Richard Newby has chosen Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. Once again we’re venturing into the territory of science fiction and horror (we read other genres too, we promise!) Annihilation, the first book in the Southern Reach Trilogy, follows an expedition of four women: a biologist, an anthropologist, a psychologist, and a surveyor who travel to the mysterious Area X where dark secrets are waiting. Annihilation won the 2014 Nebula Award for Best Novel and the 2014 Shirley Jackson Award for best novel.
Just like last month, Annihilation’s chapters will be divided into sections, so all readers can follow along week by week. The schedule is as follows:
April 4th– 10th: Chapters 1 and 2
April 11th – 17th: Chapter 3
April 18th– 24th: Chapter 4
April 25th– May 1st: Chapter 5
If you’d like to suggest a cinema-related book for future book club readings, please e-mail your suggestion to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Good luck and happy reading!
