Now that we’re only a couple weeks away from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel’s marketing for Ant-Man begins in full. Like the teaser that was released a few months back, the trailer begins on a pretty serious note that’s somewhat reminiscent of the trailers for Rami’s Spider-Man films. But this time around we’re given a better sense of all the key players involved and get our first look at Corey Stoll’s villainous Darren Cross a.k.a. Yellowjacket. Where this trailer succeeds in light of the first teaser, is the full establishment of Ant-Man’s powers that go far beyond just shrinking down in size. There are also pretty spectacular looking elements that will surely add some originality to Marvel’s action sequences. While we do get some moments of levity in the trailer, I’m still a bit surprised on how serious the marketing has been for this, especially given the players involved. Paul Rudd still isn’t give much to say, an odd way of presenting the lead character, but I have a feeling Marvel is trying to hold back on revealing most of the laughs until it hits the big-screen. While the trailer may not be earth shattering, I think it should convince people who were still on the fence about the movie, while still maintaining some mystique.

Ant-Man will be released on July 17th.
