Weekly Roundup 08/17/2014: Petition to Make Sylvester Stallone Take a Seat, Plus Movie Announcements and Your Fave Tweets of the Week

Weekend at the Box Office Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles retained its box office reign with $28.4 million bringing its domestic total to $117.6 million, which is not bad for a Megan Fox vehicle that’s 6 years past her prime and a bunch of CGI meathead turtles (just kidding, that was snarky of me)! Guardians of the Galaxy is continuing its dominance by coming in at a very respectable 2nd place with $24.7 million over the weekend- most likely making it the highest grossing domestic film of the summer. Let’s Be Cops opened up solid since its Tuesday debut with $26.1...

What We’re Watching: 8/14/2014

Last week, Teaira mentioned she was looking forward to The Hundred-Foot Journey. Well, I saw it last night and loved it! It’s one of those simple, yet exciting movies that comes around every once in awhile that doesn’t rely on heavy special effects and gimmicks – just a pure storyline. Also, Helen Mirren is a powerhouse and I bow down to her every role. Go see it while it’s in theaters! Movie I’m Looking Forward To: The Giver Okay, some might say this is a total cop out, given my love for young adult book-to-movie adaptations, but I really...

What We’re Watching: 7/31/14

Hello! This is my first post for the “What We’re Watching” section. You can usually find me writing the Weekly Round-up, but Teaira and I are going to be tag teaming these two sections together now. Movies I’m looking forward to: Guardians of the Galaxy I’m not a big Sci-Fy person (is that even how you spell it? Sci-Fi? Science Fiction?) but let me tell you: this star-studded flick sure has my attention. This summer’s box office has been somewhat lackluster aside from the occasional blockbuster such as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Anything Chris Pratt does...

Our Little Infinity: Why You Need to See The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars is days away from release, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve already watched the theatrical trailers countless times and felt every emotion on the spectrum – laughing, weeping, you name it. So. Many. Feelings. As one of Summer’s most anticipated movies, The Fault in Our Stars already boasts an established fanbase thanks to the intensely popular John Green novel that serves as the movie’s source material. The story focuses on Hazel, played by the up-and-comer Shailene Woodley, who faces the not-so-average teenage struggle of battling thyroid cancer. While in a cancer support group,...
