Fueling the anticipation for next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, Entertainment Weekly has released several new stills from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, giving us a better look at the film’s primary characters.
There’s not really much going on in this picture from the set, but it does give us a better look at the aging Bruce Wayne, who appears to be in the midst of destruction. Rumor has it the film will open with Bruce Wayne in Metropolis during Zod’s attack from Man of Steel.
We saw another angle of this shot in the teaser trailer, and it’s also one of the earlier stills. I’m not entirely sure of if there are Day of the Dead festivities taking place here or if it’s something else, but either way the shot lends credence to the film’s rumored preoccupation with superheroes as gods.
Another look at Batman in his battle armor, standing next to the bat symbol. The photo doesn’t tell us anything new, but it does evoke classic Batman iconography.
Our first look at the regal Diana Prince, out of her Wonder Woman costume, alongside Bruce Wayne at a gala (as it wouldn’t be a Batman movie without some sort of fundraising ball), and as I’ve yet to see Gal Gadot in anything, I can’t personally speak to her acting abilities, but I’ll be damned if she doesn’t look like a Greek statue come to life.
Batman and Superman face to face, and ready to throw down. So far, all of the face-offs still seem to come from one scene, which gives me hope that the majority of the movie will just be Batman and Superman punching each other. It’s a cool one-time thing, but seeing them as allies would be much more interesting over the course of an entire film.
And perhaps the most interesting of the bunch: our first in-color look at Lex Luthor (with hair). We’ve already seen a black and white headshot with him bald, so we know he’ll resemble the classic Lex Luthor eventually (and yes, before people complain, he’s had similar hair styles in comics). While I’m still uncertain if Jessee Eisenberg can pull off the role without going full-Zuckerberg, he’s seemingly got the smarmy arrogance down.
And finally, we have the cover with our featured Trinity!
The entire cast, along with director Zach Snyder will appear at the Warner Bros. panel next Saturday at Comic-Con, where they will unveil a new trailer that will hopefully wash away the mediocrity of the teaser trailer, in addition to (of course) more photos and plot details within the coming week.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released on March 25th, 2016.
