Richard Newby III
I’m from Columbus, Ohio and currently live in Brooklyn, New York. Along with movie reviews, I write fiction (science-fiction, horror, fantasy, and oddities). I studied English, Film Studies, and Popular Culture at The Ohio State University, and Creative Writing at Adelphi University. As someone who strongly believes in the teaching power of films and reviews, I am honored to be a part of Audiences Everywhere.
The first movie I ever saw was Beauty and the Beast. From there, The Empire Strikes Back and Universal monster movies fostered my love of film. I now religiously keep track of every movie I view and own. While I’ll watch pretty much anything, though I’m a bit choosier when it comes to comedy, I particularly love science fiction, horror, and superhero films. I’m also a sucker for a good twist ending.
Beyond movies, I’m an avid reader and collector of comic books (especially Batman), a video gamer, memorabilia collector, and music fan. Needless to say, these are pricey hobbies for someone who was once described as having patrician tastes and plebian means.
My favorite directors are: Stanley Kubrick, David Cronenberg, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky, and Quentin Tarantino.
I also write film reviews at my blog: http://newbyfadeto.blogspot.com/
