The 88th Annual Academy Awards are underway at the Dolby theater in Los Angeles. The nominees, presenters, and attending stars are finishing up their red carpet entrances.
The awards are voted upon and the ceremony is presided over by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Tonight’s ceremony is hosted by Chris Rock, potentially the perfect host given the recent controversy over the racial exclusion in the most important nomination categories. Many will be watching to see how the broadcast reacts to the criticism and amends for the exclusion. Others will want to see if Leonardo DiCaprio finally gets his long-earned statue. Some might be interested to see if Alejandro González Iñárritu can pull off the unlikely Best Picture repeat or if his cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki an win his third in a row for the category.
