Does anyone else think 2015 might be too good to us? You can only be so excited for any number of movies. Star Wars, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Furious 7, Mockingjay Part 2, Crimson Peak, and now Mad Max: Fury Road. It’s too much. The trailer from SDCC was pretty great on its own. The official trailer makes Fury Road look so good, it might be time to just end all bad things – all of them – just so the world can come together to watch this in theaters together. What did we do as a society to earn a trailer this good?
I just fucking love everything about this trailer. The scenery is alien and colorful. The action is practical (minus, you know, the giant sandstorm stuff). Charlize Theron is bald and screaming at stuff. Tom Hardy is gruff and Australian now.
Director George Miller said he structured the film to be understood without any dialogue by putting imagery and visuals first, with the movie also feeling like a continuous 2 hour chase scene. That’s also good because we don’t nearly have enough car chases in movies nowadays. At least good car chases. Fury Road serving a 2 hour version of a car chase will remedy that. If there’s one concern to me, it’s only in the box office well-being of the film. It comes out 2 weeks after Age of Ultron. We must all do our duty to watch this movie a thousand-jillion times in IMAX. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
