When she was younger, Martina used to re-enact movie scenes, changing them slightly each time. To her deep, personal shame, one of these involved giving Batgirl a bigger role in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin. She didn’t yet understand that Alicia Silverstone was a terrible actress or that the movie was best forgotten. She also loathed Leonardo DiCaprio. Her taste was bad.
Over the years, it may or may not have improved, but her writing ability has. She managed to beat the odds and parlay a master’s degree in English into a career as a
cube monkey technical writer. She also teaches at a community college, where America’s youth drive her to drink, curse, and seek personal achievement elsewhere. That’s why you’ll find her here.
Her favorite movies include Airplane!, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Serenity, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Doctor Strangelove, and The Avengers. She loves superheroes, loathes any movie whose poster uses a pretentious indie font, and would love to tell you about her irrational desire to punch Shia LaBeouf. You could say she’s… not shia ‘bout it. She also enjoys bad puns.
