We already warned you not to read about A Series of Unfortunate Events and you didn’t listen. You kept reading and sharing and liking as though that wasn’t exactly what we told you not to do.

Well, if you’re a glutton for punishment Netflix has released a full trailer for A Series of Unfortunate Events, which shows that this despicable show is going to be a zany, cartoonish nightmare in the vein of Mr. Sonnenfeld’s Addams Family movies. And look at these poor wretched fools dragged into this horrible situation obviously against their will. Poor actors probably forced to choose between being in this show or ending up with cement shoes at the bottom of the Rotten River. You may need to watch this show just to show your sympathies for the plights of Alfre Woodard, Don Johnson, Catherine O’Hara (who was already in the movie version of this whole torrid series), Aasif Mandvi, K. Todd Freeman, Joan Cusack, Patrick Warburton, and Neil Patrick Harris as that most dastardly of villains, Count Olaf, along with a variety of alter egos.

If you must, gaze upon this trailer and marvel at the atmosphere, the humour, and the attention to detail. If you must. Otherwise, go outside and play in the sunlight or go for a swim and pretend that horrible stories like that of the Baudelaire siblings don’t exist.

A Series of Unfortunate Events will be available on Netflix starting January 13, 2017.
