Listen. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is probably not going to be the greatest thing to happen to movies, but the hype train on this movie is literally out of this world. It’s a fun reminder of the power movies can still hold to bring people together, binding us to one another like the force, whose energy flows around us, and the final trailer for J.J. Abrams’ latest film brings us all a little closer to home.
The legend of Star Wars is almost biblical at this point. It is a legend that has been passed down from generation to generation, and with the final trailer for The Force Awakens premiering, we get some details on the updated galaxy far, far away, and it looks like the original trilogy cast is a legend in this universe as well. Picking up decades after the destruction of the second Deathstar, a loner on a desert planet ponders her own fate, a rogue Stormtrooper escapes the clutches of the villainous First Order, and Han Solo ponders over how his adventures faded into myth. A world weary Han then joins the new heroes on their quest with flashes of Leia, who is probably a Queen by now, new worlds, updated Tie Fighters, and what looks like a Darth Vader fan club.
Where’s Luke? Why isn’t Han with Leia? Why is the Empire, now called the First Order, still around? Find out when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th, 2015.
