Ever full of surprises, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot has announced a Castle Rock series coming to Hulu.

For those unfamilar with the name, Castle Rock is a fictional town in Maine that serves as home for some of King’s most well known works, including: The Dead Zone, Cujo, The Dark Half, and Needful Things. It’s also mentioned in the majority of King’s other works as well. The teaser makes references to a number of King’s stories and characters including IT, Misery, Salem’s Lot, and The Shawshank Redemption. While those stories take place in other fictional towns of King’s creation (Derry, Jerusalem’s Lot, Ludlow) there may be some crossover within what looks to be a shared universe of King’s world.

It’s safe to assume that the popularity of the King inspired Stranger Things, the upcoming releases of IT and The Dark Tower, as well as King’s upcoming 70th birthday all played some part in making this happen. It’s unknown whether the series will adapt parts of the novels and short stories that have taken place there, or will use to the continuity of the books to introduce us to new characters and horrors steeped in the familarity of this world.

You can bet we’ll have more info on Castle Rock as it comes in! We’re so ready for this!
