A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle is a beloved kid’s classic that has been adapted as a play, a television movie, and a fantastic graphic novel by Hope Larson. When news broke that a movie adaptation was coming everyone got hyped. Then it was announced that Ava DuVernay was directing from a Jennifer Lee (Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph) script with a cast made up of Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Michael Pena, and the hype went supernova.
Today, the release date was announced in the coolest way possible with a lengthy mannequin challenge that manages to not only give the release date but also give laymen like myself a bit of a look at the sheer volume of people and jobs there are on a movie set. The video goes all around the crew catching them frozen in time and hard at work. There’s no dialogue or action and yet it got me more ready for the movie than I think a trailer could have. Check it out below and start counting down the days.
A Wrinkle in Time will see theatrical release in the US April 6, 2018.
