Movies I am Looking Forward to Watching:
Pitch Perfect 2
When Pitch Perfect was released, I shamelessly looked up interviews with Rebel Wilson. Combine Wilson with a capella and I am sold. Anna Kendrick is awesome. Her audition song “When I’m Gone” hit the radio airwaves with great fervor and a resurgence of THAT cup beat. But have you seen, and heard, the Gaelic version?! Remember, The Sing-Off? The singing competition focusing on the a capella stylings. Pentatonix will be featured as a rivaling school against our best pitches. Pentatonix’s Daft Punk Mashup is my favorite ear candy, on repeat for days. So, quick recap as to why I want to watch Pitch Perfect 2: 1) Rebz 2) Pentatonix 3) The fantastic renditions of the movie’s songs.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
This film is all too fitting within Audiences Everywhere’s community, as we have the Criterion Discovery feature. Two childhood friends, create their own spoofs, often based on films in the Criterion Collection, as a means to avoid the social constructs of high school. Some of their notable titles include: A Sock Work Orange. Pooping Tom. Senior Citizen Cane. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl appears to be the fantastic love-child of The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Fault in Our Stars.
I seem to end up with themes, unintentionally, of course. This week it’s high school and college. The most dreadful, memorable, or uneventful times of our lives. Posing as a high school guidance counselor, David, a boozy former child-star, befriends the teenagers he mentors in an unconventional manner. David and I would get along great. He advises to one of his advice-seeking students, “I want you to be the inspiration for all sluts out there. They can be smart, intelligent sluts.” Heck yeah! Guidance feels like it is one of those movies that says what no one else will, your overly honest BFF who you hate and love at the same time.
