Movies I am Looking Forward to Watching:

The Penguins of Madagascar

I have seen The Penguins of Madagascar trailer at least a dozen times. It has grown on me, to say the least. If anyone has a young child who likes watching movies, I would gladly babysit for an hour or two (snacks included); it’s important to get feedback from the market segment for whom the movie is intended and not look like a creeper in the process. I have watched every single movie clip that is out, in anticipation. I hope I did not spoil it for myself. The Madagascar movies got laughs out of me, these penguins have some expectations to live up to.

My Prediction: C+

The Imitation Game

Who doesn’t love them some Benedict Cumberbatch? Ah, yes. I am one of the many adoring Sherlock fans who is quite delighted to see him appear outside of the BBC sphere. The Imitation Game is fascinating in the perspective it offers. Typically, in World War II movies, the focus lies primarily on the front lines. Here, we are immersed into a very different battle scenario in which the ammunition is within coding. Cumberbatch plays the role of Alan Turing, a name unknown, but whose efforts helped build the groundwork in the field of computer science.

My Prediction: A

Blu-ray/DVD I’ll Check Out:

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I should have watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes when it was released in theaters, alas, my modest television will have to do. As one of the “best movies of the year” for 2014, it is necessary before to watch before the year closes out. It is about survival in a most conflicted manner. What captures my interest lies in how they were able to create the chimpanzees, I will be looking at the choreography and the special visual effects used to humanize the apes.

Netflix Hidden Gem I will be Watching:

Galaxy Quest

Sara recommended The Taking of Deborah Logan, and I thought I would never see an image of an evil and utterly terrifying old woman; I was momentarily chilled. So thank you, but no thank you. Horror and I are not good friends. I had seen Heathers prior to Sean’s recommendation for the Netflix Hidden Gem. Lick it up, baby. Lick. It. Up. Instead, I am going to check out Galaxy Quest. I did not know the premise of the movie until reading Diego’s piece on it. The more I read, the more I realized I need to watch this movie ASAP. I fan-girled when I saw Sir Patrick Stewart at a convention and if Galaxy Quest is a satirical spin on Star Trek, I know I will enjoy this movie.

Thank you Diego, it appears your recommendations will keep me busy.
