Weekend at the Box Office
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles retained its box office reign with $28.4 million bringing its domestic total to $117.6 million, which is not bad for a Megan Fox vehicle that’s 6 years past her prime and a bunch of CGI meathead turtles (just kidding, that was snarky of me)!
Guardians of the Galaxy is continuing its dominance by coming in at a very respectable 2nd place with $24.7 million over the weekend- most likely making it the highest grossing domestic film of the summer.
Let’s Be Cops opened up solid since its Tuesday debut with $26.1 million and the highly anticipated third installment of The Expendables franchise, The Expendables 3 lacked the necessary muscle to overcome moviegoers after only taking in $16.2 million over the weekend.
And, sadly, The Giver underwhelmed with 12.8 over the weekend.
According to what he told Vulture, Sylvester Stallone is (exhaustingly) still sticking to his action roots and is reportedly training for Rambo 5. Oh Sly, I just… I mean… you’re making me tired just thinking about this. I love that you’re still a leading action star, but maybe let’s give Rambo a rest for now.
Who else wanted to be the Pink Power Ranger growing up? To me, it doesn’t get much more badass than that and lucky for us, Entertainment Weekly just announced the release date for the movie! Mark your calendar for July 22nd, 2016, friends. For we shall unite as nerds and practice our karate moves Mighty Morphin’ style.
P.S. has anyone seen “What If”? I’m having an Adam Driver moment and very curious about the film/Daniel Radcliffe pulling off a romantic comedy. Let me know what you think in the comments!
