Deadpool is taking over the news this week.
- First, Ryan Reynolds tweeted a pic of himself suited up in the official Deadpool costume in a pose that’s homage to the famous Burt Reynolds pose. It was amazing. Reynolds just keeps showing he’s perfectly clever for the role and the suit looks like it’s pulled straight out of a comic.
- 20th Century followed that up with the film’s official synopsis:
“Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter-ego Deadpool. Armed with new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”
The synopsis doesn’t reveal much we don’t know, but apparently Deadpool is going after the producers of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
- And finally, THR is reporting that Brianna Hildebrand has been cast as Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the film. Hildebrand has no previous feature film experience, so it’ll be interesting to see how she works with a cast full of talentedly funny actors
Looks like we’re getting two more live-action Disney films. THR reported that a Mulan live-action is in development at Disney while Deadline reported that a Winnie the Pooh live-action film was also in development. Mulan will be written by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin and Winnie the Pooh will be directed by Alex Ross Perry. I loved both original animated films, but I’m only keeping myself cautiously optimistic for these because even though Disney just gave us Cinderella, they also gave us Maleficent.
Hellen Mirren stated in an interview with Yahoo! Movies that her “great ambition” is to be a mad driver in a Fast & Furious movie, which means Fast & Furious is slowly taking over Hollywood and I couldn’t be happier.
Latino-Review is reporting that Scott Eastwood has been cast as Steve Trevor in DC Cinematic Universe. Eastwood will first appear as Steve Trevor in a minor role in Suicide Squad and then move on to a bigger role in Wonder Woman as Wonder Woman’s love interest. I love that they’re going for this classic Wonder Woman love angle instead of the weird Wonder Woman/Superman relationship.
Variety reported that Stephen Amell will join Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 as Casey Jones. The role is not that different from Amell’s role in CW’s Arrow, so I can see it. For those unfamiliar, Casey Jones is a vigilante in a hockey mask who beats up criminals in New York because he thinks they’ve failed the city.
Collider broke the news that the full-length Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will play before Avengers: Age of Ultron. No surprise there. Come on, guys, this isn’t starfighter science.
Trailer of the Week
Mad Max: Fury Road wins trailer of the week with their final trailer. I loved the adrenaline boosting editing of the trailer, the crazy-looking characters, the visually stunning sets and action, and the best part is that I still don’t know what the hell this movie is about. This is the perfect example of a final trailer for a Summer movie. I don’t know what George Miller did to earn the title ‘mastermind’, but this trailer certainly proves he deserves it.

For Paul Blart 3, I hope he either goes to space, or shoots an unarmed kid and the film is a serious commentary on gun violence in America.
