A bit of a slow week post-SDCC (you can catch our coverage here) so here’s the quieter week of movie news for you to catch up on at your leisure:
- Neill Blomkamp’s sequel to ALIENS is reportedly going very well because he said so on his INSTAGRAM.
- The Amazing Spider-Man 3 almost happened and it would have been inspired by one of the worst Spider-Man stories of the 90s, The Clone Saga.
- John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are writing the Spectacular Spider-Man (unofficial title they should totally go with).
- BIG RUMOR: Ellie Goulding may have just recorded the SPECTRE theme song with these hints on her INSTAGRAM and TWITTER.
- Not entirely movie news but according to the Hannibal panel at SDCC the show may return as a potential feature film instead of the optimistic but unlikely season 4.
- THR reports an Aladdin live-action prequel focusing on genies is in the works at Disney because this definitely worked out every other time for them.
- IT may have a new director picking up the reigns from Cary Fukanaga’s departure.
- Deadpool actually looks… good?
Trailer of the Week
Anything involving Tina Fey and Amy Poehler immediately calls to our attention given their dual projects of 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation. Together again after their previous film Baby Mama, one can only hope that Sisters lives up to the best of their material without falling victim to sacrilegious under-utilization of two great modern comedians.
